THE HABIT OF THINKING FOR OTHERS.

“We would worry less about what others think of us if we realized how seldom they do”.    Ethel Barrett

This is a kernel of truth common to almost everyone (if not all).

It is a habit we imbibe as we grow up. I became conscious of this not quite long.

So how do we think for others? Let me give you some instances.

I can’t do this, people would laugh at me”.

“I can’t wear this, people would make jest of me”.

” I can’t carry out this project, people won’t like it”.

“Sandra might be talking ill of me right now”.

Hey deary! This life is too short to be ‘thinking what others might be thinking’.

Your life is not a compensation for others”. Lolaspen

Do what’s right at all times and stop worrying what others might be thinking of you. This doesn’t mean you’ll stop caring completely, but it will give you opportunity to decide what you would like to say and do.

What do you think of yourself?

What would you like to do?

You love it, then do it?

We are scared to carry out important projects because we fear people would think ill of us.We fear people might judge us by the way we walk, dress or even by the way we talk.

Mind you, there is difference between thinking for others and thinking of others. The former is at the detriment of your happiness and joy. The latter brings you satisfaction and gives you joy.

Thinking for others or worrying what other people think is the cause of all kinds of superficial behavior, missed opportunitys, inner resentments, and even bitterness and regrets.

Some might like you, some might hate you. The perception of people about you have nothing to do with you.(maybe little)

Don’t try to be someone you’re not just to conform to the standard of others”. Lolaspen

Fact: Someone will always be upset somewhere and that’s not always your responsibility.

Remember: People will think what they’ll think. Stop assuming people are seeing the worst in you.

So today, determine to go for what is right and notice what it’s like to reach a point where you no longer even think about what others might be thinking.

Were you blessed and inspired?

What are your opinions?

What are your suggestions?

Let me know in the comment box.

And don’t forget to share this post with a friend.

Till my next post, keep loving, keep trusting, keep dreaming big and be healthy.

  1. A nice read.
Reminds me of the lyrics to a song which says “Everyone’s got their own opinions
There’s nothing they don’t know about
But in the end nobody’s winning
‘Cause nobody’s got it figured out

    [Chorus:]
Oh the things we think we know
    But honestly we really don’t
    This side of heaven
Save the worry, stop the hate
    It doesn’t matter anyway
    This side of heaven”

People will always have something to say but what actually matters is what God says about me.

    Lola’spen!!! Keep it up

  2. If the thought you have towards others is not to improve, impact value into their lives. Every other thought is not worth it.

    More ink to the pen!
